Overview
The low-residency format for Master of Music provides for the intensive development of technical skills, extensive knowledge of the literature, and achievement of a broadened knowledge of the art at an accelerated pace and with minimal time on campus.
The first semester of the Low Residency MM is a 4-week residency on the Peabody campus in June. The second and third semesters are the fall and spring semester that is completely online, and conclude with a second 4-week residency.
Credit Limits
Students in the Low Residency program must enroll in a minimum of nine credits each semester in order to maintain full-time status. MM students must successfully complete 18 credits each year to demonstrate good academic standing.
Students in the Low Residency program may register for a maximum of 18 credits per semester including lessons, a portfolio, and a maximum of six credits of graduate seminars each semester. Students who enroll in any Music Theory and Musicology courses beyond the six-credit limit will be administratively withdrawn from those classes. If a student has compelling reasons to take classes above the credit limit, they may petition Academic Affairs.
