Health Insurance for Students
Johns Hopkins University provides access and requires students - who are currently enrolled in at least one (1) in-person class in a full-time degree-seeking program and doctoral students - to have comprehensive health insurance. These students are automatically enrolled in the student health benefits plan at the beginning of each academic year. However, students may waive enrollment in the school plan if covered by a plan that is comparable to that offered by the University. Waiver request information is available here. International Students with an F1/J1 visa status are required to purchase the student health benefits plan and are not eligible to waive out of coverage. All full-time, on campus, degree-seeking students will have access to University Student Health Services. University Student Health provides students with adult primary care and adult outpatient mental health services.

Dental and Vision insurance are not included in the student health plan but can be purchased by eligible students for an additional fee. The University is offering a dental plan with Delta Dental and a vision plan with EyeMed. Coverage will start on August 15th for returning and newly enrolled students. Coverage will start on January 15th for the newly enrolled spring students. Returning students can enroll in August during open enrollment. If a student misses open enrollment, they will not be able to enroll during the year.
