Johns Hopkins University publishes the Academic Catalogue annually in July. The Academic Catalogue may be updated at other times throughout the year as appropriate. In the event that updates are made to the Academic Catalogue JHU will post changes in the addendum section.
For new courses and course changes approved after July 1, 2023 please see the JHU Course Schedule.
This page lists any changes to the catalogue, including newly approved programs or updates to policies, made after the publication date. A description of the change, date the change was made, and a link to the updated page will be included.

July 11, 2023 - added MHEC approved Applied and Computational Mathematics, PBC to Part-Time, Online Graduate Programs (Engineering for Professionals) catalogue page. Please visit the Engineering for Professionals website for program information.
Addenda/Errata
February 15, 2024 - Effective Spring 2024, due to accreditation compliance requirements, the residential MSE (Master of Science in Engineering) in Systems Engineering has been renamed as Master of Science (MS) in Systems Engineering. Please visit Systems Engineering for additional information.
February 13, 2024 - Updated link for Six-Year Graduation Rates (Cohort Year 2016) per Office of Institutional Research & Analytics.
January 29, 2024 - Molecular and Cellular Biology Major, BS MATH Requirement should read AS.110.107 Calculus II (For Biological and Social Science) or AS.110.109 Calculus II (For Physical Sciences and Engineering) or AS.110.113 Honors Single Variable Calculus. AS.110.113 was inadvertently omitted at time of publication. The same omission occurred with the Environmental Science, BS Natural Sciences core.
January 26, 2024 - The following statement: "Students may not count 3 courses, EN.553.311 Intermediate Probability and Statistics, EN.553.420 Probability, and EN.553.430 Mathematical Statistics, toward minor requirements." has been corrected to read "Students may not count all 3 courses, EN.553.311 Intermediate Probability and Statistics, EN.553.420 Probability, and EN.553.430 Mathematical Statistics, toward minor requirements." on the Applied Mathematics and Statistics Minor.
November 21, 2023 - The following changes were not captured in the 2023-2024 Catalogue and should be included under the International Health, MSPH program on the "Requirements" tab:
Under Social and Behavioral Interventions in the "Program Requirements" dropdown, under "General Requirements" the following has been added: Students must also choose one of the following courses: PH.380.611 Fundamentals of Program Evaluation; PH.221.645 Large-Scale Effectiveness Evaluations of Health Programs; PH.222.654 Food, Culture, and Nutrition
Under Health Systems in the "Program Requirements" dropdown, under "Health Systems Electives," the program has restructured into more descriptive topical areas. All courses currently listed in the existing electives section are approved, but have been reorganized into the following categories: Digital Health; Food Systems and Food Security; Gender and Health; Health Economics; Health Policy and Politics; Health Systems Strengthening; Humanitarian Health; Management and Leadership; Monitoring and Evaluation Methods; Non-Communicable Diseases and Injuries; Primary Health Care, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health Topics; Program Design and Implementation; Research Methods; Other Key Topics.
November 15, 2023 - The following courses were not captured in the 2023-2024 Catalogue and should be included in the "Electives" section of the Space Systems Engineering, MS degree program requirements tab. November 10, 2023 - Some of the curricular requirements for the Occupational and Environmental Hygiene, MS shifted in the 2023-2024 academic year and were not captured in the catalogue.
- PH.182.623 has moved from Term 2 to Term 3.
- PH182.637 has moved from Term 3 to Term 2.
- PH.182.625 has moved from Term 4 to Term 2.
- The course number for Occupational injury Prevention and Safety Policy and Practice has changed from PH.305.615 to PH.180.676.
November 3, 2023 - For the ABET-accredited undergraduate programs offered by the Whiting School of Engineering, the Program Educational Objectives, Student Outcomes, accreditation status, student enrollment data and degrees granted data are published on the following program websites: BS in Biomedical Engineering, BS in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, BS in Civil Engineering, BS in Computer Engineering, BS in Computer Science, BS in Electrical Engineering, BS in Engineering Mechanics, BS in Environmental Engineering, BS in Materials Science and Engineering, and BS in Mechanical Engineering. Each of the previous program pages in this catalogue was updated with consistent ABET accreditation verbiage.
