Minor Programs
Undergraduate students may pursue a minor in the Business of Music, Historical Performance, Liberal Arts, Music Theory, Musicology, or Directed Studies. They may also pursue some minors offered at other JHU schools, specifically the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, the Whiting Shool of Engineering, and the Carey Business School.
Students may begin taking coursework toward a minor at any time. For Directed Studies and minors at other JHU schools, students may be admitted by applying by the end of their fourth semester of study. For all other minors, students may apply beginning in the fourth semester of study, and by the end of the penultimate semester. Students apply by completing this form. Students may have only one minor.
Once admitted to the minor, students must maintain good standing in the major area and a 3.5 cumulative GPA for a Directed Studies or a minor at another JHU school and a 3.33 cumulative GPA for other minors.
Students may begin taking courses at another division of the university beginning in the second semester of study. Students with minors may not exceed enrollment in 25 credits each semester.
Successful completion of a minor will not appear on a diploma but will appear on a final transcript.
