Direct Matriculation: International Studies B.A./M.A. Program with the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS)

For students wishing to pursue a master’s degree after graduation from Hopkins, the university offers a competitive Direct Matriculation: International Studies B.A./M.A. Program drawing upon its resources at SAIS, located in Washington, D.C. Combining a liberal arts curriculum with a strong specialization in international studies, this five- or six-year program allows selected students the opportunity to pursue an intensive undergraduate international studies course of study with guaranteed enrollment in a two-year master's degree at SAIS.

Students must indicate that they are applying for the SAIS DMP on their admissions application to the university and complete the Direct Matriculation Program: International Studies supplemental form by the application deadline.

Students admitted to SAIS through the DMP will have required courses to complete: Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, and Statistical Analysis I or II.  Students must also maintain a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.5 to remain eligible. https://apply.jhu.edu/apply/direct-matriculation-programs/

Progress toward the B.A./M.A. Degree

Students in the SAIS DMP spend their first three or four years at the Homewood campus and the last two at SAIS. Students receive the B.A. degree at the end of their fourth year and the M.A. at the end of their second year at SAIS.

Students selected for the DMP may study abroad during their Homewood years on a case-by-case basis and should discuss their plans with the International Studies Program Director before submitting an application to the Global Education Office.
