Center for Data Analytics, Policy, and Government

The Johns Hopkins University Center for for Data Analytics, Policy, and Government encompasses a set of graduate programs designed to build knowledge and skills that prepare students to be leaders in policymaking, administration, security, intelligence, analytics, and the nonprofit sector. The center’s programs bring together theory and practice; students use their graduate education to inform and advance their professional work.

Based in Washington, D.C., the Center for Data Analytics, Policy, and Government offers a vibrant learning environment for both onsite and online graduate programs, as well as a forum for policy and governance discussions. The center provides a venue for nonpartisan efforts to expand knowledge of the U.S. policymaking process, national security enterprise, intelligence community, nonprofit work, and analytical methods used for assessment and prediction. In addition, the center is involved in a number of government and private sector partnerships that further enhance student learning and leadership development.

Graduate Degrees and Certificates

The Center for for Data Analytics, Policy, and Government is home to eight master’s degrees and three certificate programs. They are: MS in Data Analytics and Policy; MS in Geospatial Intelligence; MA in Global Security Studies; MA in Government; MS in Intelligence Analysis; MA in Nonprofit Management; MA in Public Management; MS in Research Administration; Certificate in Data Analytics and Policy; Certificate in Intelligence; and Certificate in Nonprofit Management.

In addition, students have various options for combined and dual programs that allow them to pair a master’s degree with a certificate or with an MBA from the Johns Hopkins University's Carey Business School. These options include: MA in Government/MBA; MS in Data Analytics and Policy/Certificate in Intelligence; MA in Government/Certificate in Intelligence; MA in Global Security Studies/Certificate in Intelligence; MA in Public Management/Certificate in Data Analytics and Policy; MA in Public Management/Certificate in Nonprofit Management; and MA in Public Management/Certificate in Intelligence.

Partnerships, Events, and Publications

The center welcomes opportunities for collaboration and initiatives that fit within its goals of educational exchange and workshop/training efforts that further the understanding of the roles and functions of government and nonprofits.

Throughout the year, the center hosts various events that bring together students, scholars, and leaders in government and industry. These events include simulations, staff rides, residency experiences, lecture series, and research symposia. The center’s full-time faculty are actively engaged in their academic fields, as are the practitioner-scholars who comprise the adjunct faculty. Each year the faculty collectively publish numerous books, articles, and other works.
