Overview
The Department of Physiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics provides opportunities for medical students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows to carry out research projects that create new molecules, identify targets, and explore preclinical models essential for translating discoveries into therapeutics. The department has two major instructional functions: it provides required and elective instruction in pharmacology and physiology for medical students and offers two graduate programs leading to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD): (1) Pharmacology and Molecular Sciences Graduate Program; and (2) Cellular and Molecular Physiology Graduate Program. An integrated MD-PhD program is also available for medical students interested in combined medical and scientific training.

| Courses offered by the Department of Physiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics are intended for graduate students. Medical students may enroll with prior course director approval. In addition, elective courses must be approved by the preceptor; any member of the department may act as preceptor. | ||
