Funding, Financial Aid, and Student Loans
Graduate students should contact their department(s) for information concerning funding support availability. Students who are seeking federal financial aid are required to fill out a new FAFSA form for each year of financial aid. WSE-Specific Graduate Fellowship Information
The Whiting School of Engineering offers a number of endowed fellowships that provide supplemental financial aid to incoming and current full-time engineering students. Veterans Educational Benefits
Office of Veterans Affairs
Johns Hopkins University is approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission to provide education and training to veterans, active-duty service members, and eligible spouses and dependents enrolled in degree or certificate programs approved by the State Approving Agency. Enrollment certifications are submitted to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in accordance with applicable federal and state laws governing veterans’ educational benefits.
Johns Hopkins University fully complies with Section 103.1(b) of the Veterans Benefits and Transition Act of 2018. In accordance with this provision, the University does not impose penalties - including the assessment of late fees, denial of access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities, or the requirement to secure additional financing - on any covered individual whose inability to meet financial obligations is due to delayed disbursement of funding under Chapter 31 (Veteran Readiness and Employment) or Chapter 33 (Post-9/11 GI Bill®) programs administered by the VA. The University also participates in the Principles of Excellence program.
To prevent outstanding balances, students utilizing Chapter 31 or Chapter 33 benefits must:
- Submit a Certificate of Eligibility or Statement of Benefits (Chapter 33);
- Maintain a current VR&E Purchase Order authorization on file (Chapter 31);
- Complete a Third-Party Payer VA certification request each term; and
- Provide any additional information required to certify enrollment.
Students are encouraged to contact the Office of Veterans Affairs for guidance on the use of VA education benefits.
Standards of Progress
Continued eligibility for VA educational benefits is contingent upon the student’s maintenance of satisfactory academic progress, conduct, and attendance, in accordance with University policies and VA requirements.
Military Tuition Assistance (TA)
Johns Hopkins University is approved by the U.S. Department of Defense to administer Military Tuition Assistance (TA). Students seeking to utilize TA should consult University Military TA resources for application procedures and eligibility requirements.
