This track prepares the student to practice at an advanced nursing level to provide family-centered evidence-based pediatric primary care to children from birth through adolescence. PNP-PCs practice in a variety of pediatric settings including: primary care offices, community clinics, urgent care clinics, newborn nursery, palliative and hospice care, school-based healthcare centers and ambulatory in specialty-care and rehabilitative centers that manage chronically ill patients across the disease and condition spectrum. PNP-PC can assess, identify, diagnose, treat and provide management for pediatric conditions and diseases common in the primary and ambulatory care settings. They are responsible and accountable for providing preventative health care including health promotion and wellness, disease prevention, and patient and family-centered health holistic health education and counseling. It is a program recommendation for candidates to have at least one year or more of pediatric nursing experience, upon application to the program.
