Overview
The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Clinical Informatics (PBCCI) was designed for health professionals who are adding health informatics to their existing scope of practice(s). The PBCCI program consists of required courses and a 75-hour practicum. The required courses cover a range of topics from applied clinical informatics to precision medicine.
The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Clinical Informatics can be completed in as little as 12 months or up to 36 months, based on the student's clinical or other professional priorities while enrolled. The PBCCI can be taken remotely and there are no requirements to come to the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine campus.
Intended Audience
- Clinicians (physicians, nurses, dentists, doctors of osteopathic medicine, etc.)
- Health specialists, including librarians and information managers seeking health IT and clinical data science skills
- Programmers/software engineers working in health IT who would benefit from a grounding in health informatics principles
Students should be aware of additional state-specific information for online programs.
Admissions Criteria
Applicants interested in the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Clinical Informatics (PBCCI) program should have one of the following qualifications:
- A master's or health-related professional degree (MD, BSN, etc.) from an accredited college or university; or
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in a field relevant to health informatics, plus 1-3 years of experience in a field relevant to health sciences and data science

Requirements
The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Clinical Informatics (PBCCI) consists of the required courses listed below and a 75-hour practicum. The required courses cover a range of topics from applied clinical informatics to precision medicine and public health. Additionally, students must complete an online training “Responsible Conduct of Research (CITI)” through MyLearning during the first semester. The program must be completed within 3 years.

Note: Courses are offered during Quarter 1, 2, 3, 4, and Summer. Course credits are listed as quarter credits; the conversion rate to semester credits is .5 semester credits. For example, a 3 quarter credit Q1 course is 1.5 semester credits.
