Portuguese Minor Requirements

All minor requirements must be completed with a grade of C or better and may not be taken satisfactory/unsatisfactory.

To waive a course, please contact the Portuguese Language Program Director to learn about the procedure.

Courses taken at another institution that are not directly equivalent to a JHU course may not apply to the minor without permission of the Director of Undergraduate Studies. One course taught in English may be counted towards the minor requirements with the authorization of the Director of the Spanish and Portuguese Undergraduate Studies. Courses taught in English can be identified by the MLL-ENGL POS-Tag.

A maximum of 6 credits can be transferred from the Spanish and Portuguese Section approved Study Abroad programs.

Native speakers should consult with the minor adviser for the Spanish and Portuguese Section.

Students wishing to transfer credit from language courses taken elsewhere should contact Dr. Flavia Azeredo-Cerqueira for approval for the Portuguese language course. Students will be required to take the proctored departmental placement test upon returning to Hopkins as part of the credits’ transfer requirements.
